Match dissolve
Watch as an animation →Slowly overlap two scenes of the same shape and position, so that even as time or state changes, it feels like the same thing continues.
Changes in the same place, like an empty spot to a filled spot, day to night, past to present. Skipping across the years from one face to another.
Make the start frames of the two cuts in the same composition. Feed the previous cut's image into an image-editing model and change only the part to be changed, using "Keep exactly the same composition … change only …". Generate each video separately (don't specify an end frame) and overlap them in the edit with xfade=transition=fade:duration=1.2. Choose the cut point so the reference object (a doll, a window, a face) lands in the same place while they overlap, and if the light changes in the scene, slowly brighten the end of the previous cut with eq.
Generate two separate clips with the same locked framing and a toy doll in the same spot: Clip 1, an empty dusty apartment room at dusk; Clip 2, a bright classroom full of children, doll in the same place. Then overlap 1.2 seconds: ffmpeg -i c1.mp4 -i c2.mp4 -filter_complex "xfade=transition=fade:duration=1.2:offset=2.8" -an out.mp4 (c1 is 4 seconds long).
